Nyungwe

Declared in 2004, Nyungwe protects one of the oldest montane forests in Africa, with plant lineages going back several million years that survived the glacial cycles which wiped out similar forests elsewhere on the continent. It holds troops of black-and-white colobus of up to 400 animals, one of the largest social groupings documented in any non-human primate in the world, and its canopy walkway, suspended 50 metres above the ground, is one of very few of its kind in East Africa.
