Threatened species by country
Turkmenistan puts the leopard and the snow leopard on the same list, two cats that rarely share a country. Nine of its fifteen threatened species are steppe and desert mammals — Dorcas gazelle, goitered gazelle, urial, Arabian oryx, Nubian ibex — and the only fish is the beluga sturgeon, critically endangered alongside the Bactrian camel. Two tortoises and a spiny-tailed lizard complete it.
