Carnivores that live and hunt in groups.
A pack is the stable group of certain social carnivores, such as the wolf, the African wild dog or the dhole, which cooperate to hunt prey larger than any of their members. It is usually an extended family, with a breeding pair and their offspring of several years, which also shares the defence of the territory and the care of the pups. Cooperation allows them to chase prey for kilometres or to surround it, strategies a solitary hunter could not use.
