Spotted something wrong?

Laha, the flagship site also known as the Twilight Zone, is dived over sand and volcanic rubble inside the harbour. From the surface the place promises nothing; below it holds a density of rare macro life comparable to Lembeh's. The bay combines a nutrient supply with small sheltered coves, and that mixture sustains the ecosystem.

Ambon Bay, celebrated among macro photographers for rare creatures only recently described by science.

Did you know?

The psychedelic frogfish (Histiophryne psychedelica) was described from specimens found in these waters and cannot be reliably seen anywhere else. Ambon also has wrecks, among them the Duke of Sparta.
