Triton Bay

Soft coral reef / Coastal pelagic
Depth: 5–30 mLevel: Advanced Open Water
Spotted something wrong?

South-east of Raja Ampat and not part of it, Triton Bay offers a different underwater landscape: greener, nutrient-rich water, walls carpeted in soft coral and a remarkable density of fish. The classic sites are Little Komodo, Larry's Heaven (also called The Aquarium), Macro Wall and Walker's Reef. Off the island of Namatota, whale sharks come to the bagan, the floating fishing platforms.

Did you know?

It is known as "the lost paradise" because of its isolation. Larry's Heaven is named after Larry Smith, one of the guides who opened up diving in this part of Indonesia. Night dives are the time to see the bamboo sharks that move across the bottom by propping themselves on their fins.
