Highlight

It holds the Kongou Falls, among the most spectacular in Central Africa, deep in the heart of the Congo rainforest

Declared in 2002 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021, Ivindo protects the Kongou Falls, a series of cataracts on the River Ivindo reckoned among the most spectacular in the whole of Central Africa and reachable only after several days of river and overland travel through all but untouched forest — which has kept the park among the least visited protected areas in Africa despite its extraordinary scenic value.
