Zambia's oldest and largest national park, and one of the largest in Africa
Declared a game reserve in 1924 and made a national park in 1950, Kafue is the oldest and largest national park in Zambia — bigger than countries such as Wales or Israel — and one of the largest on the whole African continent. Its Busanga floodplains, reachable only in the dry season, support one of the greatest concentrations of lions and other big cats in southern Africa, in a setting often compared to the Serengeti plains for its open scale.
