A threatened group in a country
Burkina Faso's sixteen threatened mammals belong to savannah and Sahel, without a single marine species. Three are critically endangered — the African wild ass, the dama gazelle and the black rhinoceros — and among the vulnerable sits the fauna people look for on safari: lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, hippopotamus and topi. The chimpanzee is the only primate.
