Declared in 1987, the Bruce Peninsula protects the northern end of the Niagara Escarpment, the same geological formation that gives rise to the famous falls. Its most photographed feature, The Grotto, is a coastal cave partly flooded with water of an intense turquoise comparable to the Mediterranean, which over the past decade has become one of the most shared images on social media in the whole province of Ontario, generating a crush of visitors that has forced the introduction of a compulsory booking system.
