Jordan's Red Sea coast is a mere 27 km, but it packs some twenty dives into the park. The gulf is so narrow and so deep that there are no outer reefs: almost everything is dived from the shore. Upwellings of cold, nutrient-rich water keep the coral in very good condition. The wreck of the Cedar Pride and the Japanese Gardens are the best-known sites.

Aqaba Marine Reserve, established in 1997 (2.8 km²)
Aqaba is above all a macro destination — shrimps, nudibranchs, pipefish, frogfish — rather than a big-animal one, which makes it a paradise for underwater photography. Every guide and instructor working there must be registered with the marine park.
