Carrasco

Declared in 1991, Carrasco protects a continuous ecological transition from the Bolivian Andes down to lowland Amazon rainforest, in an altitudinal gradient that supports an exceptional biodiversity. Its caves hold colonies of the oilbird, the same echolocating nocturnal bird found at the Peruvian park of Cutervo, with populations separated by thousands of kilometres but identical in behaviour.
