Highlight
Australia's largest isolated fragment of subtropical rainforest, so far from other similar forest that it evolved its own endemic tree frog
Declared in 1941, Eungella protects Australia's largest isolated fragment of subtropical rainforest, separated by hundreds of kilometres from other similar forest on the east coast, an isolation that has favoured the evolution of unique endemic species, including a tree frog that has not been confirmed sighted since the 1980s and may be extinct. The park is also one of the best places in Australia to watch platypus in the wild, from platforms beside the Broken River.
