Canada's smallest national park; the country's southernmost mainland point and a key bird migration route
Declared in 1918, it is the second oldest national park in Ontario and, at barely 15 km², one of the smallest in Canada, but disproportionately important: its sandy point reaching into Lake Erie is the southernmost mainland point of Canada (on the same latitude as northern California), and it acts as an exceptional migratory funnel where more than 390 bird species have been recorded, making it a world-leading destination for birdwatching during the spring migration.
