Bohor Reedbuck
Redunca redunca
The species is abundant and widely distributed; it faces no significant short-term risk. See full glossary
The bohor reedbuck — known in Spanish as antílope arundinela or redunca común — is a medium-sized antelope with a tawny coat that occupies the humid savannas and tall grasslands of sub-Saharan Africa, from Senegal to Tanzania. It lives in pairs or small family groups holding a stable territory, something uncommon among savanna antelopes. It feeds almost exclusively on grass and needs water close by. Faced with danger it crouches in the tall grass and bolts only at the last moment, leaping and giving an alarm whistle.
