Declared in 1964, Mikumi shares an unfenced wildlife corridor with neighbouring Nyerere (the former Selous), letting large mammals move freely between the two. Crossed by the main road between Dar es Salaam and Zambia, it is one of the most accessible safari parks in Tanzania, only a few hours from the coast by road.
