One of the greatest concentrations of baobabs and of elephants in Tanzania outside the Serengeti circuit

Declared in 1970, Tarangire is celebrated for a landscape studded with baobabs centuries old and for gathering, through the dry season, one of the greatest densities of elephants in Tanzania, which move towards the Tarangire River — the region's only permanent water — when the rest of the surrounding ecosystem dries out completely.
