Omnivore
Species that combine animal and plant food depending on what is available.
What it means
Omnivory is a strategy of flexibility rather than a particular diet: it allows an animal to switch resources with the season, the latitude or the opportunity, and it usually comes with curiosity, good spatial memory and an ability to learn from others. It is also the diet that copes best with a human presence, which explains why many of the animals thriving in cities and farmland are omnivores.
