Threatened species by country
Twenty-five of Bhutan's thirty-three threatened species are mammals, and the list climbs from the Terai to the Himalaya without a stop: greater one-horned rhino, Asian elephant, gaur and tiger below; red panda, snow leopard, takin and Alpine musk deer above. Two pangolins appear among them, and the Chinese pangolin is critically endangered alongside the Indian vulture and the gharial.
