Highlight
The source of the Nalón, Asturias's longest river; far quieter than neighbouring Picos de Europa for comparable beauty
Declared in 1996 and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve the same year, Redes protects the source of the Nalón, the longest river in Asturias, in a massif that combines beech and oak woods with high limestone summits comparable in beauty to the neighbouring and far busier Picos de Europa, but with markedly fewer visitors and so a quieter experience of the mountains.
