Wildlife by group and country
Twenty birds for thirteen parks, and three of them exist only on Cocos Island: the cuckoo, the tyrannulet and the finch that bear its name, all three vulnerable. On the mainland the list climbs from the Tortuguero mangroves — roseate spoonbill, white ibis, brown pelican — to the páramo of Los Quetzales and Poás volcano, with the volcano junco and the resplendent quetzal.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
