Monfrague

Declared in 2007 over an existing Extremaduran nature park, Monfragüe holds the largest colony of cinereous vulture in Europe — the continent's largest scavenging raptor — along with one of the most important breeding populations of the Spanish imperial eagle, an endemic species that was in grave danger of extinction only a few decades ago. Its Peñafalcón, a quartzite crag, regularly holds several species of vulture and eagle nesting on the same rock face, in plain view from the road.
