Threatened species by country
Nine of Nauru's twenty-three threatened species are sharks and rays. The list is that of a Pacific atoll from start to finish: five critically endangered — giant clam, staghorn coral, great hammerhead, oceanic whitetip and hawksbill turtle — and not one terrestrial species except the coconut crab. The only bird is the bristle-thighed curlew.
